Happy Easter

I have to brag for just a second. Look at these!

C gave them to me for Easter, and they are lovely! I am so lucky. I'm obsessed with them. They smell so good, and they are just beautiful!

It's been a great Easter!

a first

I have an obsession with Food Network (thank goodness C does, too) and was able to feed my strange desire to make a cake today. So, I made my first layered cake ever! Vanilla and red velvet cakes, cream cheese frosting, and fresh strawberries. It was three layers, and I was very proud of myself. I hope it was good, C and his family said it was, so I am guessing it was a hit. So proud of my first semi-legit, very amateur cake. The only pictures of it I have are on my phone, and they aren't the best quality, so just imagine what it looked like.

Also, C and I decorated Easter eggs with my family tonight.  What an adventure.

It was certainly a fun time.

PS: Grand Kerfuffle + Chiddy Bang + Mike Posner = unimpressed. Luckily it was free, and luckily I was there with C (that made it way better!).

Are you a book junkie?

If not, disregard this next paragraph. If yes, read on.

I absolutely love Barnes and Noble. Something about the smell of books combined with the smell of Starbucks, and the shelves upon shelves of fresh paper filled with someone's words...it's a great place. C and I went and grabbed some dinner (mmm, thank you Noodles & Co for being delicious) and then wandered over to B&N for a little book browsing. Of course we stopped to observe the photography books (C loves photography), and then wandered around the rest of the store and just had an adventure. So, my recommendation is, if you love books, and want to walk around and have an adventure with someone special, stop by your local B&N. You'll love it.

wanting summer

I want it to be summer. I would say it's because I need a break, but I'm taking classes this summer so I won't get much of one of those, but it's okay. Mostly I just want this semester to be over, and I want it to be warm outside so I can swim and eat Snow Shack every day.

Also, I gave in and bought another pair of Toms on Wednesday. I got them online because I didn't want to drive to a store, and now I'm anxious to get them in the mail! I also discovered that Toms has a wedding collection–you better believe that one day when I get married I will wear Toms with my wedding dress! Such a genius idea!

But, happy weekend! May you all spend it having marvelous adventures, with someone special, or just relaxing!

an ending

Last night I got released from my calling as IC Vice President. It hasn't exactly hit me that it's over yet, but...it's over. I was sitting on the stand last night, staring out at all the fabulous girls in Lambda Delta Sigma, and I felt this overwhelming surge of joy and love. It is an inspired program, and I am so grateful for this year that I have been blessed with to work with amazing women, and to gain a closer relationship to my Heavenly Father and my Savior. I am so blessed. It's over, and I am going to miss it more than anything. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for this absolutely wonderful and humbling experience. I will forever be indebted to you for this incredible opportunity. Time for a new adventure I suppose.

how sweet it is

I love General Conference! Seriously, I can't put it any better than Elder Holland said when he mentioned that it is hoped that every person listening to conference gleans at least one thing from one of the talks. Oh don't worry, I gleaned many things from every single talk. Honestly, this was perfect timing. Conference is the best—it gave me such a renewed sense of hope, and a perfect understanding of where I am and where I'm going! I am so excited to read through the talks again this week (you can find them here) and to feel again the Spirit I felt this weekend. It was perfect, and I love this semi-annual weekend during which I feel a complete cleanse, a stronger resolve to start over, and a deeper love for my Heavenly Father, Savior and testimony than I thought possible.
